VPN won't connect!

January 3, 2010 at 21:38:46
Specs: Windows XP
I am not a computer geek, so please excuse my terminology in advance. i have the following problem...
I have a new windows xp and cisco vpn client system. I sucessfully installed the vpn client and entered the IP address. I could not connect, so I rebooted the system and tried again. Still nothing. I ahve tried this multiple times, 4 or 5, each time, the internet connects, I am able to ping the company, and the system begins searching for the vpn connection, however the system goes on forever searching for the connection until it is manually cancelled.

I am connected via a linksystem box and connected to the internet using an ethernet cable and a time warner cable router which gives us high speed connection.

Ask your Domain/Network Administrator if there is a pcf (VPN profile) file already created and configured properly to allow you to connect to the company's VPN Concentrator.
