Hi all I am just received this Alert! message on my PC (Dell 4045): "Alert! Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [Vopn]." I can't enter the DOS start-up - the computer simply freezing on the initial boot. There was a similar thread (see below) but it didn't fully explain if they got the computer restarted and compatible with all the external devises again. Not really a dos anymore, do you mean safe mode (F8) at boot? What I would do is get any data off that I needed. Use a live cd and move or copy the data to a networked drive. Might consider using a msbackup restore or goback if installed. Might consider using the XP install cd to try a repair. Can't seem to find any good data on that stop. Might have to see if you have a dump log and view that and decode it. I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
