A couple days ago, the volume control buttons on my keyboard stopped working. Then I noticed that the sound icon in they tray was missing. When I went through the control panel to access the volume control there, the only way I could adjust the volume was to manually move the slider up and down. The keys did nothing. When I told windows to place an icon in the tray, nothing would change. It would give me no errors, but no icon would appear. I have since bought a new keyboard (mostly because my old one was old and disgusting) and the problem still remains. For this one, a little graphic shoes up displaying where the volume is, and the only way to adjust it is manually moving the slider. I don't recall uninstalling or deleting anything in the last few days. Like I said, this happened out of the blue and with no explanation.

Try reinstalling the sound drivers.

Not all keyboards have control buttons for volume and other such functions. You need to reinstall the keyboard drivers. What exact keyboard do you have? Model should be on the back of the KB.

I tried reinstalling the sound drivers and reinstalling the drivers for the keyboard but neither of them worked. So I restored windows to a date before this problem was occurring and that fixed it. Thanks anyway.
