I use this forum quite alot.
Everytime i log on i am told that i need to download virtual java machine to view the pages poperley.
After reading posts on this forum i decided to decline microsofts offer of downloading and i downloaded .SUN Java plug-in (as recommended by posts)

Now whenever i log into this forum i get a little java console icon by the clock,But the page looks no different????

What is this plug-in really for? and,
Is is needed by IE6?

basically im asking do i need it or not?
I am a complete novice when it comes to JAVA, I don't know what it really is.

All help appreciated, Thanks

Dirk.

I don't know much about Java but what I know is that Java is a kind of Programm-Language or an international known way of creating or develop programms and let it works properly as it ment to. It works mostly without seeing it and thats than a good one as long as the programm do what it's made for.
For example if you want to pay or do something financial or things that need a lot security most of that kind of programms need Java, also a most internetsites use Java, you can notice it when you can't open a site properly or you're only able to open a part of it...or only with faults.!!

Greets...Daniël.
