From the reviews it sounds good, it has the aero effect and also the window flip where you can look at the back of a webpage window. If you try to uninstall it it will be a problem. I guess the programmer is more interested in installing it, not uninstalling it. It is pretty much a resource hog. It may be a cheap way to get the vista look and also to find out where everything is, but I rather performance instead of eye candy. Who knows I might install it, hopefully it doesn't slow my raptor down.

'how good'? that depends on how much you like the Vista Aero style, translucent windows, start menu, sidebar, tooltips, etc. :-)

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

you may customize the installation and leave out the 'resource hogs' (sidebar and virtual tool tips) ... the 'orb fix' wasnt't really satisfying either, doesn't work with all resolutions (i might not have the latest version). the theme itself doesn't make a difference in performance since the windows theme manager is used.

and a full backup is always recommended!

I really like the VTP 6.0 final by Mr Windows X.
As Mattie said, you can customize the installation.
After playing with earlier versions and the final, these are things I leave off or uncheck from the install:
Remove logoff/Shutdown button
LClock
Vista Tooltip
Blaero's Start ORB
toosje's Vista Sidebar
Styler w/Kaye's Skin
Stianu89 & blue eyes WLM skin

You can experiment, if you don't like some of the features, remove VTP in control panel add/remove, then reinstall and leave off or uncheck the features that are undesirable.

If you are concerned about the no uninstall you could download Sandbox, run it and test it, then delete or keep it.
