Guess what - the CEO of M$'s most important partner Intel spilled the beans on when we can expect Vista SP1 during this conference call with financial analysts. Plan ahead for more work during the holidays (Halloween - Thanksgiving - Xmas - New Year)

All applications will never be perfect. People write/code them. Mistakes will be made. When a flaw is discovered those applications get patched up for the better.
Hackers/Crackers will always be trying to find exploits. When the exploits are discovered/abused a service pack is released to patch up "the holes" within.
There's always going to be this cycle...
And just because these analysts want or demand a date now! doesn't mean they're going to receive it.
One of the analysts claimed, "he doesn't understand Microsoft logic".
Microsoft wouldn't be the top dog in the whole entire OSsoftware, browser industry if they had poor logic.

Of course, software is never guaranteed to work on everybody's PC. Too many things come into play both software-wise & hardware-wise.
I've been thinking about why is it Intel that spilled the beans. Are they working on the development of better processors designed specifically to work with Vista SP1 and beyond.
If that is the case, I suppose that the familiar Vista Capable & Vista Premium logo attached to today PCs will be replaced with Vista Certified logo.
What this implies is that every PC sold with the OS preinstalled on it are - in theory - never meant to take full advantage of Vista potentials. I could be wrong but it's my reckoning why Intel. Are we being duped by Redmond behemoth?

"Are they working on the development of better processors designed specifically to work with Vista SP1 and beyond?"
I sure hope so...
I'm guessing it was a strategic remark because maybe their lossing ground within the market...and need to let its stockholders feel assured/confident or believe that, as you stated: they're in the work of developing a better processor/chip...

Hi Guys!
Interesting discussion. I don't think Intel is having any financial problems, but I could be wrong. Didn't their "core-2 Duo" processor blow away it's AMD counterpart? (at it's release, I don't know about now)
I know the ones I have installed in new systems I've built perform very nicely!
