Comment: I have a friend who wants me to replace Vista with XP/Pro (incompatibility issues!) I intend to insert the XP disk and do a straight boot/install. Will Vista allow this? Do I need to be aware of anything tricky?

Reply: (edit)Vista won't even know its happening. Format the drive during install and byby Vista. This is assuming you have all the XP drivers for this hardware. Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

Reply: (edit)If you only need a few tasks on XP you might consider a virtual machine. A virtual machine would allow you to run both at the same time. I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Reply: (edit)Wanderer - thanx, I put in the XP disk and the first screen that came up listed Vista. So I re-started and got the XP load screens and everything worked fine. My friend has the Vista recovery disks if he ever wants to go that route!
