With the stated specs of the PC it is hard to tell, maybe run the Upgrade Advisor and then come back ??

If you only have 128MB of RAM, then you CANNOT upgrade to Vista, even if it were much better than XP(which it really isn't). In fact, 128MB of RAM(assuming that's what you have) isn't even enough for XP.

I myself wouldn't up-grade to Vista yet. They still have a lack of drivers for older accessories and you would get quite frustrated. Also, you probably need at least 1GB of ram to run Vista and I would suggest at least 512MB to run XP properly.

Some HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!

vista right if you dont have enought ram, is not worth upgrading. I have put it on the back burner and dual booted it with xp. Vista is just to slow and if you dont have a top of a line computer, IE core 2 duo or quad core you are not going to experience it like you would xp. Lack of drivers are another misfortune and alot of companies out there are forgoing the upgrade and sticking with xp. Some sites out there say that vista is just ME version 2, I think that it is much better than me, but also need more optimization and tweaking on the operating system to allow it to run like xp.

As has been stated, with your RAM at 128 MB you cannot upgrade to Vista.

As far as the Vista is "Win ME 2.0" remark, that is bull. I lived through ME hell as a system admin and support person and there is no comparison at at all between the two.

Back to your question: Vista has a nicer interface and some really neat features but upgrading just to upgrade is not a good idea - especially since in order to do it I would suspect your would need to trash your old computer, so upgrading means buying a new machine in your case.

If you are ready for a new PC, then by all means I think you will be happy and have a very much improved user experience with preloaded Vista Box.

And I want to echo something said upthread: 128 MB of RAM is really inadequate to run XP. I bet if you upgraded to at least 512 MB of RAM you would experience such a boost on program speed that you might just be able to milk another year or so out of your current PC. And a year down the road Vista will be a much more mature product with a much wider set of peripheral drivers.

I would agree that there really is no comparison between Windows ME and Vista. Some might argue, however(I don't necessarily agree) that Vista is as much of an upgrade of XP as Windows ME was of Windows 98.
