I try to use my scanner as before it was working properly for years.
Now when I click on Twain ikon I get this message:
*Cannot communicate with scanner.
*Cable maybe disconnected.
*Check status.
*Scanner driver will be closed.Everything connected promptly and driver works properly.
If I use Paperport through WinXP scanners & camera wizard funnily it works properly???
What could be the problem?

You say it was working Proply for years. That was under a different version of Windows, correct? That scanner may not be supported under the NT kernal, which is Win2000/XP. I have a Logitech Pagescan Color with the same problem. I dual boot Win98/2000 for that reason.

You say if you use Paperport through the WinXP scanners & camera wizard it works properly. Does this mean you open Paperport and choose scan and pick wia(Windows image acquisition)it will work? Which way do you try that it doesn't work?

Thanks OtheHill & domass,
When I use Paperport through WinXP scanners & camera wizard it works properly, so I think WinXP does support this scanner.
Start - Printers & faxes - Scanners & Cameras Wizard then it works properly, it does not go into Paperport I think. This wizard just use the scanner with its own program. That's why I am sure nothing wrong with the scanner or the driver at all. This program I can't save (*.max) format which Paperport uses.
When I open Paperport than I get the error message.
Moni

If the scanner seems to work then your problem is that Paperport no long wants to support that product version in WinXP. You can Email them to verify this. There is another software product that I originally got with my Logitech Pagescan color that has recently released a new version. Unfortunately for me, my scanner won't work in 2000/XP so I can't try out the new version but the original was really nice. I still use it. I think what you have is similar. Filing cabinet, OCR, Fax, Copy? You may want to try out the one I refer to for a 30 day trial. It is called Papermaster. Google for the site.

I use Paperport, I open Paperport and hit the scan button on the toolbar, then on the left side where the folders usually are is the scan options. There I have the option to push the little drop down arrow where it says "Scanner" I pick the "WIA" option and it give the same wizard that comes when you press Start > Programs > Accessories > Scanner and Camera Wizard. I use this all the time and if you Highlight "Photograph" then click on the "settings" you will have the choice of saving to .max format. I have some problems when in paperport and using the scanner interface that comes with Paperport(the window that pops up and says Scanmanager). What version of Paperport do you have?

PaperPort 7.0
do not have the options you domass've mentioned. When I hit the scan=Twain button I get the message:
*Cannot communicate with scanner.
*Cable maybe disconnected.
*Check status.
*Scanner driver will be closed.
Nothing else I can do.
