My nephew has a virus from MySpace on his computer. I want to try to get rid of it for him. If I hook up his PC to my router,
can his PC infect my other PCs if file sharing is not enabled?

I doubt your PC will be infected but shut it down if you're really worried about it.

I always told my brother that My Space was a problem but he swore it wasn't. Anywhere he went, spyware followed.

Thanks for the reply. He said he kept getting popups trying to get him to try some kind of virus scanner and when he refused to download it, his My Space page kept popping up until finally it froze up his machine. I helped another nephew with the same problem from My Space a couple of years ago but I can't remember what virus it was. I wanted to connect to the internet and see if I could get some clues from the popups on his page. It has destroyed his connection through his DSL server so hopefully I can get it to connect through my cable service.

Again, thanks for the reply.

Then download anti malware from malwarebytes.org , burn it to a CD and run it on his machine. You don't need to connect it to the net.

You can do the same with Hijack This. Post the log if you don't know what to delete.

HiJack Logs and Virus questions are more appropriate in the Computing.Net Security and Virus Forum, where what you asked has been regurgitated many times before....

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I will watch more closely next time. Just want to thank guapo again for his help and tell him that I tried the program he suggested and it worked great. All cleaned up now I think.

Itguru... you should note that there is a forum which is equipped to handle Hijack logs. This forum is not equipped to do so. Please do not post Hijack logs here.
