Comment:

Recently got rid of winspyware virus completely. It had corrupted Norton and a few other files. There is no msconfig.

I read while surfing there is a msconfig driver that I can download which is available for windows 2000 (this is not windows 2000 simply xp). Do you think it would be ok to download. I do have the original xp disc but I am not too swift in this area. Really don't want to screw around too much as this is my son's computer and it is running great right now without the msconfig.

Of course as I look after it I would prefer to have it on there. Any advice would be appreciated. How easy would it be to simply download the msconfig driver and would it self instal? I leave it to all you brainiacs to advise me.
Thanks

Thanks
Teabag

teabag43, Go to the link below and download the "MSCONFIG.EXE (for Windows 2000)" and save it to your hard drive then place it in your C:\Windows\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries folder. The file is the correct Windows XP file and I downloaded it and scanned it and it's virus free.

Edited to add: Another alternative is to go into Folder Options.View tab and select "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files[recommended]", click Apply/OK. Now go into Windows Explorer(not Internet Explorer) and open the C:\Windows\System32\dllcache folder locate the msconfig.exe file right click it choose Copy then paste it into the C:\Windows\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries folder.
