I managed to get rid of a virus last week (or so i thought), with the help of you guys. It was the beagle worm.
Today my computer will not connect to the internet (broadband) will not allow me to collect my email, has taken Norton out of my start up - and will not let it open, and has mixed all the colours of my desktop setting up (also removed a set of menus out of the toolbar).
I have tried using the Beagle fix which found and deleted the worm, and when i ran it again it said the machine was clean - but still no internet/norton etc.
I have re-ran the broadband setup disk again - but to no avail.
I have written this from work, but intend to go for a full re-format (out of desperation) when i get home tonight.
Just thought I would quickly ask if anyone knows any better before i take such a drastic step.
If you can help it would be most appreciated, I will check here again from my work machine before going home at 21.30 tonight (UK time).
As I do not have an internet connection - I cannot download any flashy progs that might fix it, so i am looking for a good old manual fix - at least to get the internet back and then i can follow any suggested downloads.
Many thanks in advance
Pete.

If you can get into the safe mode try a system restore to before the worm and run NAV.
Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks. It would be a courtesy if you would post back and let us know if the fix worked or not.

Um Per maybe he should disable the restore and run the virus scan. The little snips hide out in the restore files.
I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...
