Kindly excuse me for reposting the same problem.
Everything looks wierd. The color of my start menu button ( which should be normally green ) and the task bar ( normally deep blue) suddenly changed to yellowish brown after a restart in safe mode.
I cannot get the normal colors back. Even my Windows Explorer,Notepad, IE etc appearance looks changed. Is it after i installed IMESH??
Now my Norton 2005 has disappeared. I reinstalled it. Scanned my PC and it found out Bloodhound P virus in the file pcacme.exe. And the repair failed.
How do i solve this problem?
Meanwhile i will use one of the antispywares
Please help me solve this problem
Thanks in advance

I used to use Norton, until I came to dislike it greatly. It would find 30 problems, and was not able to remove them on it's own. would give my step by step directions how to remove it, but this was always happening and the directions were many, including editing the REGISTRY.
Use Microsoft's free SPAM tool. LavaSoft has a good one also. Also try booting to safe mode and run these various utilites. I have a FTP stie that has some of the best free utilites, send me an email and I could give you the access account if you like.

Searching the web finds that pcacme.exe is
SPYWARE, like maybe a keylogger.
pcacme.exe tracks activity on a PC.

Spyware info.from Microsoft

Here is one software that I use, at most computer stores,
including Office Depot, Office Max:
Spyware X-terminator

Also, be sure to update any software online
after installation, and every 1-2 weeks.

Telemachus, Try running a virus scan in SAFE mode. The pcacme.exe file is probably running at startup thus your Norton can'r remove it in Normal mode. Below is a link with Symantec's (Norton) Removal Instructions.

You are in the Right track Telemachus:-)
Hunt them and kill them. Then put up a great defence and follow Safe Computing practices to prevent another attack. Good luck on this mission; it is a long and arduous undertaking.

Tufenuf, Tried running a virus scan in SAFE mode. No virus found now is the report.
The PC still very slow. Start button and task bar still yellow.
Tried to use spyware doctor which detected 12 spy programmes but could not eliminate as the product has to be registered.

Chuck , the MS antispyware detected two programmes. 1. Golden Eye and 2. Crackspider on my PC. But somehow they cannot be fully removed
Any other way out
Thanks for all the help
Telemachus
