hello, im gonna do a clean install of xp pro and i wanted to partition my hd into three parts. part 1 (c:) 10gigs for windows itself, part 2 (d:) 95 gigs for program files, part 3 (e:) 95 gigs for my documents. but when i attempted to use partition magic on my computer i would get error 58 Disable the virus or boot-sector protection. so i thought maybe if i try on another computer, so i brought and hooked up the drive as a slave on a sony vaio. i attempted to use partition magic again, same error, a friend of mine came along and said that if you delete the windows folder, it will work, so he deleted it. now im stuck because i dont even know how to access the bios on the sony vaio and i cant bring the hd back to my computer because windows was deleted. help please

Hi,
Why don't you do a clean install with the XP CD? Partition Magic would not be needed.

If you can boot from XP CD, don't need PQ, just follow the XP setup instruction and creat the partition. Otherwise, connect your HDD to other PC to create partition
