Ok here is what is happening. When you try to access certain software on the computer, the computer automatically shuts down. Also, if you go to the start up folder and click on it, it goes straight to a page with this address: (code execute link removed by Moderator). I do not know for sure if the 2 are related, but since they both started at the same time, I beleive the may be. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

P.S. I would not click on this link!

Then why post the link? Are you running anti-virus and anti-spyware programs? Have you tried a System Restore to a day before this started?

If that doesn't work, you may want to PM Justin Weber and ask him to remove this post. Then, you can post in the Security/Virus Forum.

See event viewer logs for startup.

Maybe same issue. If a folder is going to a web address that would be bad.

Could start with system restore point. If it fixes it then be sure to use best practices to help avoid this in the future.

Might have to do a clean install and use malware apps to sweep all removable media

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

danoj22, SWAG, maybe you have a Trojan rather than a virus? Be aware that a virus and a Trojan are similar, but not the same. Many times, an AV detects one it can't clean , other times, it gets missed entirely.
If you need to clean one, Superantispyware can do the job and you can get it free @:
http://www.superantispyware.com/
among other places. They have a Vista compatible version if needed.
If it turns out that you need to use it, be sure to update prior to running and disable 'restore' so it doesn't get put back. They just released a new update recently and it changes all the time. Things are in a constant state of flux.

Yep I agree with responses Jennifer SUMN and jefro... try a system restore to a date before these problems arose. If it doesnt work, run an antivirus/spyware scan

Thanks, for the help guys. Sorry about posting the link, I was just hoping maybe someone had seen a similar page before. I did try a system restore and it did not fix it. I will get a spyware program and try to fix it.

Thanks again.

dan, I've heard good things about MalwareBytes, though I've not used it myself. Keep us posted.
