actually it IS the right forum as i'm running the OS in question (XP) from a flash drive ... however, i don't need the OS telling me that my system doesn't have a pagefile, not after i disabled it myself anyway ... so, what i'm looking for is a registry hack/fix to disable this particular warning.

Not sure, but try
Right clicking My Computer,
then Properties,
then Advanced tab,
then Settings button at Startup and Recovery,
then uncheck "Send an Administrative Alert"

did the trick, good man, chuck.

actually had to disable BOTH options ('Write an event to the system log' or 'Send an administrative alert') as they both do require the pagefile.
