Reply: (edit)when the memory chips get full during a windows session, then the cpu stores data in the swap file. [virtual memory] there is no way to see or find out whats stored in virtual memory[swap file]. if the harddrive gets below roughly 150 meg of free space, then the virtual memory message comes up.

Reply: (edit)you can set a certain amount of virtual mem. I have 256ddr stick but with my virtual mem set, I have 1002mb ram total, yeah , you also need to have enough space on your computer for virtual memory. You should create a partition specifically for virtual memory. That way you will not get those warnings any more. Also buy another hard drive :)

Reply: (edit)do this click these control Panel> System> Advanced Tab> Under "Perfomance" click settings then click the advanced tab> under "Virtual memory" click change> on this page you will see initial size and maximum size, enter the maximum in the Initial size box. they both should bet the same now. Now click "Set" right under the initial and maximum boxes. this should give you plenty of virtual mem. But like kk said if you get at only 150 megs of free space on your pc you will get the warnings. I recommend buying another hard drive so you will have enough space. Yes you can have more than one hard drive at a time. Did this help?

Reply: (edit)you can only go as high as the number in the maximum box, so your total ram would be something like 712+256=whatever, my maximum is 768, I dont know why is is different than yours
