Hey, here's the situation. I will refer to my computers as Comp A and Comp B. On Comp A, I have my parallel port in use at the moment and I have another parallel device I would like to use on Comp A. I can switch them back and forth but that's a pain and I would like to use them at the same time.
Is there any was I can get the parallel port from Comp B to act as a local parallel port on Comp A like a LPT2 port. It has to be seen as a local port for the program I am using. I want to avoid spending money on PCI parallel port or parallel to USB adapter but if I must I will. I want to see if I could make this work for free first. Thanks a lot.

Pat, seems to me that an adapter would be the best solution. That said, seems to me you could hook the device up on B and so long as A & B could communicate, all should work. B can talk to A thru the serial port if all else fails and at machine speeds, you'd likely never know the difference.

Two options:
Option1 - go down to your local computer store and buy a printer switch. I prefer the manual ones but they do make autosensing models. Printer goes to switch and the two pcs lpt ports go to the switch.
Option2 - network the two computers and thru print and file sharing share the printer to the unattached station. If the two have builtin nic cards all you need is a crossover cable.
