Hi, the story goes...

I have been having lots of driver issues. I recently tired installing a new dirver which did not work. I uninstalled the driver and tried to revert to the drivers I was using before. But when I try to install the older drivers the setup fails and gives me the error:

ERROR_NO_s3_DEVICE2 - entry not found in the string table

What exactly does this error mean, and is there anyway I can fix it or get around it?

Do your drivers currently work or are you reverting to using generic drivers?

You can e-mail me and I can check when I get home to see which drivers I am using. I have a Viper V770 (non-ultra i believe) and am running XP and everything is fine.

The native XP drivers were causing me problems so I reverted to an older Viper II driver. It was working pretty well, until I installed some new software. I had some Viper II drivers modified for XP that I wanted to try before I uninstalled the software. The drivers I installed cause many more problems so I uninstalled them and tried to reinstall the previous drivers but instead received the above error message.

Alastor,

Would you please email to pbarbosa@globo.com.br the Viper II drivers you have?

I have tried the original Diamond Viper II Z200 and the S3 Savage 2000, both for Windows 2000, but my computer freezes all the time, rebooting.

I will give it a try.

Thanks,
Paulo

Hey, people, let's try this out!
During My searchs for Viper II XP driver I found this:

The dutch importer of diamond multimedia products has fixed the win2k driver so it willwork with XP. There still are some restrictions. for example : TV-out doesn't work withthese drivers.
