Reply: (edit)Windows XP passwords are encrypted. In other words there is no way you can view them. What is it that you are trying to do? Did you forgot your password? i_Xp/VistaUser

Reply: (edit)There is, but through indirect means which involve not being in the OS at the time. Loginrecovery.com Ive used it because I forgot my PC pass once. Works exactly as advertised and it's free :D

Reply: (edit)"i just want to view the password is there a way?" Open NotePad, type it in and you can then view it. Type it into WordPad or MSWord and then you can view it using different fonts for your viewing pleasure. If the password in question is someone elses then ask that person to type it into NotePad so you can view it. HTH Bryan

Reply: (edit)To get the password, you would have to 1) dump the hashes, and 2) crack them. You can't do (1) while logged in as a non-admin user. So you either have to be able to log in as an administrator, or have physical access to the machine and be able to boot to a floppy or CD. If you are able to boot to a CD, the Ophcrack LiveCD is a good starting point. As others have asked, what are you trying to do? If you simply want to change the password (without needing to knowing the old one), then you don't need to do any of this. You can change it from an admin account, or use the Offline NT Password & Registry Editor if you can boot to CD.
