um.. to begin with
I dropped my laptop and screen is broken.
forthe time being i am using an old monitor i found lyin around. now for the problemEverytime i download a movie or somthing, all i get is audio.. even files i have already watched. Like i have a movie on my hardrive that ive watch b4 and worked fine, NOW just audio same with anything else i try to view any input?

A lot of laptops will display videos ONLY on the primary screen, and not the secondary screen. Probably what's happening is your laptop still thinks that the laptop's screen is the primary screen and the monitor you plugged into your laptop is the secondary screen. So you've got to change the settings so that it knows that the monitor is the primary screen. Go to your display properties (right-click the desktop and choose "Properties"), then click the "Settings" tab and you should see it there.

ok im at where you told me to go but im confused. i clicked on the 2 thing and a check the box Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor and my screen went black untill i restarted my pc.. hmm?

It's the checkbox right above "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor". What you want to do is make sure you're on the correct monitor and then check the "Use this device as the primary monitor" checkbox.

ok i made somwhat of an error here.. this is what it looked like
1 2 monitors
i dragged the 2 infront of the 1
now the monitor i plugged in is black
and i cant really ssee anything on my broken laptop monitor.. can i reverse this settings.. only way i get a screen on monitor i plugged in is on safe mode.. but i dont think i can reverse the settings in safe mode any ideas.. plz im goin wihtout a PC now on a friends :S

I'm not sure why that checkbox is grayed out for you. Try playing around with it. Click the "Identify" button in that same section and make sure you're working with the correct display (number 1 or 2).
If that doesn't work, you could try unchecking the "Use overlays" checkbox in Windows Media Player. It's in Tools -> Options -> Performance tab -> Advanced button

well i tried

didnt do it.
i clicked Identify and a Number 1 came up on the screen?

one more little problem. i fixed viewing certain files in windows media player. but i just tried Playing a Bin/Cue file and windows media player wouldnt play it. So i downloaded VLC media player and now im back to Sound with no video..
