Hi guys,
Many of the videos I download from the Net won't run using my preferred program Winamp, nor other software I have on my computer. So I installed what was described as a Codec Mega Pack from a well-known site, only to find that although the vids now play, they all run at least 50% too fast. Is there any way of correcting this, or is it just a sneaky way of getting me to install a media player manufactured by the distributor of the codec mega pack?
Thanks once again
Caroline

1. What's the Video file extension?
2. What "well known site" is it?Vague details could only produce vague answers.

When you use what program(s) to play them?
If they play too fast in everything, try loading the latest DirectX version (available on the Microsoft web site).

Install videolan,
It will play virtually anything.
perhaps even a biscuit if you put it in the drive lol, (although I wouldn't try to find out).

Sorry, I guess that expecting a decent reply to that post was a bit silly without giving full info!!
The files in question are all .mpg format and the site I downloaded them from was majorgeeks.com. Apart from Winamp I also tried WMP 11.0 and EvilPlayer, same fault with each. However surprise surprise when I tried the program included with the codecs - called Media Player Classic - everything ran at normal speed but there was no sound on a couple of files.
I've never encountered this in several years of mainly hassle-free computing and would like to stick with Winamp. Should I just uninstall the codec pack and try another? Can anyone recommend a particular site?
TIA
