Dear group:
Sometimes the audio and video are out of sync when I view mpeg's. How can I correct this?
Also my videos a very dark regardless of what player I use (i.e. MediaPlayer, Dvix, etc.) I have the monitor brightness turned all the way up and these mpeg's are still too dark. Is there a program I can run the mpeg's through to make them brighter?
Thanks,
wayne

What graphics card do you have and are you using the latest/best drivers for it?
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Hey Richard.
Thanks for the rapid response. I am not sure what video card I have. Is there a way I can tell what video card I have without opening the computer?
Also I seem to remember a friend told me about a program you can use to adjust the brightness of mpeg's, avi's etc. Do you know what this program is?
Thanks,
wayne

Your video card's drivers might have an adjustment that will help. Right click the desktop and click properties. Select Settings > Advanced and scan through the options there. Check for video controls and look in the 'Overlay' tab (if you see it). I think Windows Media Player defaults to using the 'Overlay' settings. One trick to it, you have to be playing a video to adjust the 'Overlay' controls.

Mysuggestion in Response #3 was about the brightness problem.
As for the audio/video sync problem. I had that problem with MPEG2 videos after I edited them. I switched to MPEG1 and resolved the problem.Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Hi Wayne.
I use a program (PowerVCR) that records as MPEG1. But there are converters that will change whatever format your videos are in now to MPEG1. But you would have to convert the un-edited files. Once the video is out of sync, the conversion process will not correct it.
There are programs that are supposed to allow you to correct the 'out of sync' problem. I tried one but had a lot of trouble and finally gave up.
AVI files can also be edited without running into the audio/video sync problem.
