when you play it back from the camera does it have sound?

Pinnacle has a capture driver of its own. So does windows. try switching between them.

Ultimately this is probably a problem with the transfer of video and not your OS.

This is probably due to muting the recording volume on your PC.

Go to Volume Control, click on advanced, then select recording, then check the volume levels especially for the 'MUTE' checkmark.

Remove and close.

Now you should get sound recording on Line In (or wherever you plugged in your audio)

If you hear sound coming from the camera WHILE recording, it sounds like the audio cable hasn't been connected to your computer. You need to break out the pinnacle manual to determine where the audio cable should be plugged in.
