video streaming is choppy

September 3, 2010 at 17:42:45
Specs: Windows XP pro, P3/512
just upgraded to faster dsl.
download speedtest now is 2.6 mb,
but video stream playback is still choppy/hesitating.

are there other elements beside dsl speed that effect video playback?
using older pc, but video card is an upgrade.
should i try to upgrade drivers for video card?

anything else i can do to improve video playback?

thanks.

Upgrading the RAM will do wonders I'm sure. How much RAM does the computer have now? Sometimes older computers just can't handle streaming video just because of the speed of the RAM and the speed of the processor. What are the other Spec.'s on the computer? (single core/dual core, core speed, video card info, etc)

It's been a long time since I have worked on a P3 computer, but if I had to guess your processing power may have a lot to do with your problem. All I can suggest is to maybe try 1gb of ram and try downloading K-lite Codec pack to see if newer codecs help. Let me know if that helps!
