Hello,

I started using EO-Video the other day and ever since my AVI and MPEG files play back in Black an White.

I have tried several different video players (Windows Media Player, WinDVD, RealPlayer, QuickTime Player, Winamp 2.91, Winamp 5 Beta 2, ATI Multimedia Center 7, etc.) and have yet to get any colors. I have reinstalled all of the mentioned players without any change. After that I reinstalled ALL the video codecs.

I don't have any idea why this is causing trouble. The AVI and MPEG files are in color, and when viewed on other computers show perfectly. Even DVDs play in Black and White. Other then the playback of these files everything else is in color; games, visualizations, websites, and still pictures show fine.

If anyone has had this same problem or knows how to fix it please let me know. My TV is on my computer and its not quite as much fun to watch in Black and White.

Thanks for your help.

Jonathan

It's a problem with the CODECs installed o your machine. Uninstall eo-video and see if the problem clears. If not then restore to a point before the trouble started.

Davy,

I have already tried unistalling eo-video too, but got nowhere. I would like to fix the problem rather then restore back to a previous state because I have done a lot of work since and don't have the resources to back it all up. Do you know of any way to repair the codecs? Thanks for your help.

Get hold of a program called GSpot. It will tell you what codec is currently in use.

There could be an upgrade available to the codec or it would a least give you a starting point to remove the faulty codec.

Davy,

I downloaded GSpot, but don't know exactly how to use it to solve my problem. I ran it with one of the MPG files I have and it shows NO codecs in use. The file does run, just in black and white so I don't quite understand that.

Also I ran it with on of the AVI files I have. It did show the codecs being used, but I cannot determine how to fix my problem from this. In the video codec box it shows that I need 4CC: DX50/DIVX Named: DivX 5.0, but I just reinstalled this before running GSpot. GSpot also states that I have 2 compatable codecs for this, but the 2 are exactly the same. Could this be my problem.

I would try to completly remove the codec from my computer and reinstall it, but after uninstalling DivX5.1 I ran GSpot again to find that it was still there. Do you know how to completly remove the codec DLL file? I attampted removing the file directly, but it just reappeared after a few seconds.

Any help you can give me is great. I thank you for all of you assistance thus far.

Well, I haven't had any suggestions from the dvdrhelp forums yet, but I have fix a bit of my problems. I reinstalled WinDVD and now can watch my DVDs and MPEG videos through it with color, but I still can't see color on my AVI movies. I will update this again if I find out any more.
