Comment: I have a problem playing certain video files in media player 9. When I try to play files like .wmv, .asf, and some .avi files, the sound is fine but the video is very slow and choppy. I tried to download some codecs but that didn't work. Is it my video card? I have plenty of ram in my system.

Reply: (edit)This is the reason I have yet to go to WMP 9.0 I did early on and had nothing but problems and there are a lot of folks out there that continue to have problems. The problem does not always occur. It only happens with certain files and the only fix I have found is to dump WMP 9.0 which I still feel is junk. Just my opinion and nothing more. KTTD

Reply: (edit)I agree with Kevin. I actually downloaded WMP 9 just so that it would install some of the new MS codecs, but I sill use Windows Media Player 6.4 for pretty much every video out there. Everyone that has Windows NT4 or higher has it. It's in the C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\ directory and is called mplayer2.exe. You can run it from the Run box by just typing mplayer2. It's small, quick, and has a very nice, compact footprint. I have yet to find a better free player for almost any video format. If you know of one, tell me!
