video choppy unless moving mouse

Specs: Windows XP Media Center E, P4 3.2 1 gig ram

Here's a strange issue I'm having. Anytime I watch a movie or play a video game, I get a lot of stuttering unless I keep moving the mouse.

Haven't got a clue on this one.

Well that's new and different...

I'm guessing but, dropped frames (choppiness) is usually caused by a HD that's reacting too slow, and moving the mouse keeps the HD alive.

Go to hardware and look up IDE controlers and make sure you are set to DMA on all drives.

Thanks for the advice. I checked my drives and all appear to be set for DMA. Any other thoughts?
