hello everyone

i had a bad virus so i had to wipe my HDD.

now that i have done so, my computer won't recognize that I have a sound card. My sounds card is the crappy integrated VIA AC'97. When i try to play a song in WMP, or anything i get this error:

Error ID = 0xC00D11BA, Condition ID = 0x00000000 Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller.

Ok, so if i go into device manager, it shows the little yellow w/ black exclamation icon beside the VIA AC'97 audio controller. if i go into it, it says "device cannot start" Code 10. Location: unknown.

Also, when im in device manager, i see "multimedia audio controller' also listed. It shows that this isnt workign either adn if i go into it in device manager it says :

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

Location: PCI Bus 0, device 17, function 5.

Could my problem be a mix between the two?

Can anyone help me. Maybe i just need to install new drivers from a site?

if the card wasn't intigrated ont he mother board i could remove it and put it back in, but since it IS intigrated, i cant! :(

ALL HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED!

ok, so i said i fixed the problem because i found the drivers right?

well.......if i install the driver to the soundcard, the error keeps poping up "installation could not be completed; device cannot start (CODE 10)"

any other ideas? or should ii just go buy a new soundcard?

thanks
