i recently had a virus on my pc that ate all my bandwidth leaving me with a 15 minute delay befor internet explorer pages opened,a member on this forum kindly guided me through the process of deleting this virus which i have done,,the problem is now is from turning on the pc to being able to control anything on my desktop or from start menu its at least 15 minutes,,even then im suffering delays,,internet pages are opening fast but with a 3 second delay befor the url changing and green status bar at the bottom loading,,i have run the chkdsk c:/f and restarted but still no good,,anyone have any idea what could be wrong,,im running a 1.6Ghz Processer with 2GB ram,,in start up theres pretty much the essentials running i even disabled my anti virus from start up,,iv de fragged,,ran ccleaner ran another spyware scan but nothing,,im a bit stumped on whats wrong?haha

i suspect the computer is highjacked.
i had one in the shop this week that did the same thing.
it was a compaq, and i ran the restore on bootup, which restored the system files, left the data alone.
runs great now.

restore on boot up?u mean i gotta format it mate?damn i went threw a week of hell trying to get that bugger virus off my pc im not gonna giv in on this after a couple of hours lol

also i thin ki should point out it was after running the SmitFraudFix scan & AVG spyware scan if that would mean anything?

I have never had much luck removing a virus. You may wish to consider a clean install from a slipstreamed cd with latest service packs.
Then follow "best practices" to help avoid such issues.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Go start-run-typ[e MSCONFIG-enter. Go to the startup menu and uncheck all the items it allows and reboot. If you get a good start go back and reinstate the startup items one at time until you fine the culprit.
