day 1, problem:
i was editing today with vegas 6.. on my dell inspiron 9200 (1GB of ram, 60GB hardrive, win XP pro sp2, radeon 9700) (my computer is 6.5 months old)... everything went just fine.. as it normally does...
i was editing for probably 3.5 to 4 hours....i saved.. and closed vegas...
only to see lines of where the program was!!!
and only the bottom!about one inch above the taskbar there is a burt line where vegas was! i can see the little arrow boxes and everything.. i opened vegas again and sure enough... it all lined up perfectly!!!
ive never heard of such a thing!!!!???
i use photoshop hours on end.. ive used veags bevore for hours before...its probably 78 F in my room...
80% humidity...i dont know whats going on...
i also goto standby if leaving... i have a screen saver that goes on after 10 minutes...
whats going on you guys?
i restarded... it was still there??ill see how it is in the morning..
in the meantime... HELP!!!!!!!thanks
pjday 2:
ok, woke up this morning and its gone. no sign of it whatsoever...
im not so comforted though.. why was it there? and when/will it come back?ive had many'a'laptop in my day... never had a problem like this....
my warrenty is up in dec'05
should i do anything? or wait and see if it happens again?it was very odd...
it was about one inch above the taskbar... right over the start menu and ran all the way over the clock... it effected about 3.5 inches above that as well, while the rest of the screen above it was untouched...
do you think this is a LCD issue?
or could it be my video card itself?thanks everyone
pj

it sounds like the image has burnt into the screen tvs are the same iwas playing my xbox i paused it to have a rest and fell a sleep for 2 hours and when i switched my tv off the image was there i would suggest getting a new lcd

Sorry to disagree but pj said it is an lcd and they do not burn in. Even a crt doesn't burn in after just 3 or 4 hours. Also most burn in (severe) on crt's is visible when off as well. Other than that I can't help with your problem but will keep watching. Good luck, Bluejay

did you read it though... what i wrote?
its gone today.. right now, no lines... whatsoever...
but they come back.. over heavy usage...
people say a true burn in.. you can see it even with the LCD off.. mine is only when its on.. and only somtimes...any ideas.. anyone?

Pj, if your response was directed at me (which is kinda hard to tell), As I stated before, having been in the TV business for 27 years, LCD's don't burn in like CRT's especially in such a short time. Burn in's are in the phosphorus of a crt, and take many hours to occur and they don't come and go. Since there is no phosporus in an LCD screen it can't happen. That is one of the reasons screen savers are not nessesary on lcd panels. If you were not speaking to me then I appoligize for this note. Bluejay

hey bluejay!
no, that wasnt to you... we wrote at the same time.. you beat me by seconds though.. hahathanks for your imput!
im at a lossss
what could this be.. dell are trying to figure out.. but i feel we are just going to waste time and then ill just have to get it replaced anyhow...what else could it be?
bad lcd screen... possible i guess...
bad video driver? i have the newest.. and i have uninstalled it and reinstalled (the same one, and older ones.. no luck)
bad video card?
its new..
why cant it just work right?ill try laying hands on it tonight
hahap

I see what you mean, we almost collided on that post. I just wanted to give some info about burn in. As i said before, I am sorry I don't know how to fix your problem, I was just giving info. Good luck and I will follow this thread to see your outcome. Bluejay

the oddest thing is.. is right now.. there are no lines.. they come and go...
the lines that come are always the same... they are the outline of my program VEGAS 6.0...
even if i dont use vegas.. after heavy computing.. say with photoshop... when i close photoshop.. there they will be again...
its very oddpj
