very low disk space

Specs: Windows XP
i have very little free space on my c: drive. How can i get all of the junk off that i don't need without messing anything up?

... go to start run (type) appwiz.cpl [press ENTER]

... on the far right you should see program size in MB anything you do'nt require click it and click remove (tab)

... it would be best to restart (reboot) your pc after each program removal ... the bigger the "MB" the more space you'll save....games can be massive!

i have removed everything i dont use but i still have low disk space. there are over 60,000 files on my c:drive. almost all of these i did not create and have no idea what they are. i bought my computer from some place second hand. can i remove all of the files they have safely from my computer?

Another thing I notice that is taking up space is
EVENT VIEWER logs. Go into Event Viewer then right click
each catagory (System, Security, and Application),
then click "Clear all events".
When Prompted to Save, do not save.

Also check all the files in
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
The Prefetch folder is quite large.
I have deleted all files there, even
Layout.ini, at times without problems.
It will rebuild itself over time.

buy a new hard drive. they are real cheap these days. i got a 750 gb hdd for $60
