Continuouly Shuts Down/Restarts: After "Flashing the frimware" on my LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-182S to upgrade it to a SOHW-832S, my computer NOW continuously shuts down & restarts after it gets to the "Verify DMI Pool Data... Boot From CD:" sceen. (Also, after Flashing the DVD, but before shuting the computer down, Norton Internet Security Said it found 3 Trojons and fixed them... related to the problem?) emachine w2925 Intel Celeron D 300

What you describe indicates you have lost your master boot record. Usual solution is to boot into recovery console and run the utilities fixmbr and fixboot. Exit and reboot. See if you come up normally.

Always scan your downloads before and after expanding them.

It would also appear to me you used the firmware upgrade for the 832s on the 182S.
Firmware updates are only for your model. These are two different models.

Also don't you mean 812 not 182? I find no model of 182

Where can I get a CD with a 'Recovery Console"? Win XP was installed with the computer when purchased in 2004, no discs cam with it...

I will ask around... most people I know have Vista now. Is there a way to reload the XP Boot onto a CD from a forum and solve the problem like that?

take your pc to a computer shop and they will get you fixed up.
