Using System Recovery on HD

Hewlett-packard / Pavillion 7955

Specs: Windows XP Home Edition
Giving away computer and want to re-set to factory state. Accessing System Recovery thru F10 does not work. I can see the Recovery partition ("HP_RECOVERY (F:)") using Window Explorer. How can I use Recovery System if F10 key does not work?

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Thanks for the link. Already tried this--which is what led me to try the next level using F10 on start-up. Looks like this machine won't be "recovered".

mmm - is this a desktop system? If so change the keyboard?
If a laptop.. perhaps... you may find you can plug in an external one - possibly a ps-2 style if system is old enuff for that; otherwise "possibly" a usb one?

(Incidentally do other F keys work OK; unusual to find jut one goes down - as seldom are those keys overly used?)
