Subject: Using regedit to recover the regist
OS: XP Pro
CPU/Ram: 2400+/512
Comment:

I have a hard drive with xp pro that was corrupted; I ghosted it to another hard drive to recover any data at a later date. I've reloaded my system and now need to recover a cd key that is only in the registry of the ghosted hard drive. My question is there a way to use my primary OS and use Regedit to gain access to the ghosted registry?
Thanks
Whut

Only if you can mount the image.

Hi,
Can you still use the old corrupt hard drive??
or can you use the hard drive that you "ghosted".
Because if you can start your PC using either of these drives, if you load Belark Adviser (not exactly sure of the spelling)and run it it will tell you your product key.
Good luck.let us know how you get on.

I can not bootup using the corrupted hard drive or the ghosted hard drive. When the ghosted hard drive is setup as a slave I can see and access folders, can you copy the registry files to the newly loaded system and then use regedit to see the corrupted regsitry files?

No. But if the drive is mountable try to make a network share and login to it.

Then you can export the registry as admin, using regedit or your choice.

My drive isn't mountable. What do I do?

Is there a way to recreate the partition table?
