Hi

Due to a string of errors and glitches, I’m attempting to reformat my c partition. I have data on the other (d) partition, which I’d prefer not to wipe but I do have it all backed up.

I’ve installed Recovery Console but when I try to use it eg ‘format c:\q’ it keeps reverting to c:\windows>, no matter what I type, eg chdir command. The environment is a little alien to me and I can’t find a way getting it to recognise format c:.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think youll be able to do this from recovery console.

Your trying to format a drive that has open files on it assuming c: drive is where your OS is installed.

when you use recovery console it has you log into the drive your trying to format.

why not just run the setup disk and let it go through its normal installation process and wipe the drive from there. you can keep your d: drive umolested.
