I have a DSL connection and I'm behind a router. Of course the router is setup so that I can share my internet... the router has my user/pass info and it keeps me connected to my DSL at all times. I've got 3 computers wired in using RJ45 cables.
I'm only focused on my WinXP computer. I'm trying to setup this computer to use a proxy. I've gone into IE and added the proxy address and port to the "LAN Settings" section... but I can't load any web pages... I'm thinking that maybe the router needs to be using the proxy address... and I've look at the setup page but I don't see anyplace to put a proxy.
Other than that my setup works well... I just can't use a proxy.
I'm running WinXP Pro, IE6, LinkSys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router, SpeedStream DSL Modem.
Am I doing something wrong?

I believe you would have to enter the port(proxy) and ip info(xp pc) under IP Forwarding on the router. This way, it will allow traffic to come through the router for that port for the xp pc only.
Are the rest of your pcs connected to the internet? I'm not sure why you are trying to use a proxy.

I'm trying to use a Poxy Server... I'm not sure if that helps.
I'm mainly just trying to figure out how to do it... but it's also for security and privacy.
