Username in XP install process

Comment:
When I installed XP I was asked for a username. It’s the one which appears under “Documents and Settings”. I made a spelling mistake and now that everything is installed, I would like to apply the correction.
Is it okay to apply the correction in all hits I get in the Registry (after a search with Resplendent Registrar, for example) or will things backfire in this case?

I'd personally create an account with the name spelled right, then copy the profile: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/dupprofil... (If you cannot logon as "built-in Administrator"--XP Home seems to prevent that except in safe mode--you may need to create and log on under a third account so you can perform the copy operation via the control.)

Thanks for the tips. What do you folks have to say about XpUser's comment on not being able to change default account name?

What XpUser means is that you can change the displayed and logon name in user accounts, but not change the name of the user directory in "documents and settings". That directory is a master and not able to be changed as noted by a reinstall. Doing registry edits as indicated can crash the system and make logons not possible.

I couldn't work on this item after all. I ran into more important problems such as not being able to boot into Safe Mode.
I'll report back around mid-January.
