user32.dll BSOD

Microsoft Windows xp home sp2
September 20, 2009 at 16:54:14
Specs: Windows XP
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. I am now faced with the BSOD on several different levels..

Normal reboot brings me to Windows Error Recovery giving me options of
Launch Startup Repair
Start Windows Normally

Either option either grinds away unendingly, or ends in BSOD with a user32.dll missing error.

Safe mode, System Repair, even booting from the OS Reinstallation CD all end in BSOD.

Even booting to DOS results in BSOD.

Can someone give me some advice?

... you should be able to boot off XP CD unless you have a hardware problem

... enter your bios and set to default settings ... save on exit

... try removing one stick of "ram" ... alternate removal try booting with just one in!

... if you manage to boot off XP CD select (r) Recovery Console then from command prompt (type) either:

expand D:\i386\user32.dl_ C:\windows\system32\user32.dll

... D should be your cdrom but may vary E:(?)

OR:

expand C:\windows\i386\user32.dl_ C:\windows\system32\user32.dll
