I have acomputer at work that there are 8 users..
They are all admins.. They download programs fromt eh internet and install them. This isgarbaging up the computer.. How can I restrict the installs..
Example: One employee installs weather bug, Another install AIM, another installs Yahoo.
Is there a way to stop the installs?
I tried going to computer management and making everyone a User Group and removing the admin status but they now can't save anything.. Example, They can't install any programs, and if they need to download any updates to our programs and save outside they're profile they get denied..
Is there a way I can specify what programs they can and can't install?

no.
Why dont you just tell them not to install the crap stuff they like installing?
Either you limit all or nothing they can do, the permissions cant tell programs they try to install if you want them to be installable or not. There are 10 types of people in the world, those who know binary, and those who don't.

This is what computingMonk meant. Why all adm?i_XpUser

When you set the users to Limited account then you have to "Run As" every program we have.. this turns to a big hassle to supply the users to the main admin password.. Then they get sick of that and log in under the admin account...
As far as tell them "Hey dont install weather bug, Dont install chat programs, Dont install P2P programs..." I get teh same thing...They all say they didnt' but they get installed.. I know who installs each program I just need to stop them

I'm going through this myself.
You can disable simple file sharing under folder options, then get the SECURITY TAB on all your folders, go to the folder of the program you want them to run and add the users you want to be able to use them.
Some programs ask for REGISTRY permissions in addition to this, which I've haven't gotten around to finding yet ...
good luck

Probably not..
Heres the situation..
Hotel setting for the front desk.. Each frontdesk employee has there own user.. During a shift there is only one user on..
So multiple pc's is not the answer.

Since this is a hotel PC I think there is no sense pushing forward on a problem that is really not worth fixing. Be glad it's not your very own.

when we created our images for the computer we have a second local machine user and we installed all software under that user (temporary admin) and tested them and then made that local user a regular user. and then tested all apps again and some required registry changes in regards to permissions for some programs to run. but it worked out in the end.
