Everytime I try to log off but not turn off my computer so that other users can use it starts to save settings and just freezes black screen. It won't turn off it won't reboot. Eventually after turning the off button over and over it finally turns off. Any ideas....asked my tech support and he simply said don't try and log off just change users. Well that is what I am currently doing but I not think that is the way I should have to operate. Any ideas? Is this just a bug in Windows XP and if so are there any fixes available?

Thanks
Teabag

you probably have a program that is trying to close but can't. try looking in the event viewer afterwards to see which one. Could even be a bot, have you ran any spyware removers?

Resources to Help Troubleshoot Shutdown Problems in Windows XP

You do not have to turn off the computer to change users.

In Control Panel,
click User Accounts,
then "Change the way users log on or off",
check mark both items.

Now to change users, click Start, then click
Log Off.
