I have networked all of my computers for file sharing and I was wondering how do I make it so whenever someone tries to access my files, it would ask for a username and password? I am currently using windows xp pro sp2.

With TrueCrypt, you create a single file on your computer's hard drive that is encrypted. If someone looks at that file all they see is random data - there's no way to know what that file contains.
Warning******
the encryption for this program cannot be broken very easily...so make sure you don't forget or lose the password or phase.create a file on your harddrive and transfer all the stuff you wish to have protected ( you can create more than 1 file)
mount the file with truecrypt and set the password or phrase and then you are all set.
The file when unmounted with password...will then appear as an additional drive(partition) and all your files will be available to be removed . updated, transfered or whatever. To re-protect then just remount the file.
The encrypted protected files can also be transfered to another computer (if need be) and unmounted there so long as truecrypt is installed on that computer also. This might be possible with transfering to flash drives as well...but I haven't tried that!
