user accounts not working

I have a dell with windows xp home edition.Not sure when this exactly happened but i think it was after i installed Mcaffe antivirus. i lost the log on screen for switching users and when i log on to a different user nothing works i click on an icon on desktop and nothing happens

Consider a system restore to a working time. XP has a way to sort of go back in time. See the help and support pages in XP for system restore.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

How do you log in as a different User if you don't get the list of User logins screen? Have you tried logging in as Admin in safemode and refreahing the user accounts?
