1 x default Administrator

I am new to XP and have just installed Office whilst logged in a the admin rights user. However the icons do not appear in the limited user accounts. How do i get them to be able to use the software?

When you install most (not all) new software these days you are given the choice of installing for ALL USERS or CURRENT USER. If the software installation doesn't have that then you can correct the problem a couple of ways. Temporaly give admin rights to all accounts and install the proper shortcuts on the relitive desk tops. OR go to windows explorer and place shortcuts in the desk top folder of the limited acts. or even in the ALL USER acct. There are also other ways but you will learn them with time.

You could reinstall the software so that it comes up on all desk tops, but I like to use shortcuts on the limited accts.

I have children that use my machines so the limited accts are set so there are NOTHING but shortcuts on their desk top and a shut down switch EVERYTHING else including the task bar has been removed and right click has been disabled. So when I install programs for all users, I will simply install for myself then manually place a shortcut in their desk top folder.

You can also try CACLS through the command prompt. For further info, CLICK ME to read Microsoft's undocumented CACLS: Group Permissions Capabilities.

Hey hello.

I'm triyng along the years to make a program installed by adm run under normal accounts.

I can't. I can't change the account type 'coz security issues.

I change the perms in HKLM/Software/*Program* to full control but nothing.... I change too with cacls using the next command:

cacls c:\...\*Program*

My FS is FAT32... And again, I can't convert it. 'Coz personal porpuses.

But...Nothing.

Do you know another technic?

Thanks a lot and Best Regards.

Mario Ruiz
