Comment: I have set up user accounts for my children on windows xp pro. When they try to log onto the internet the connect box comes up tries to connect and then they are told the user name and password are invalid on the domain. I am using the same ones on my administrator account and that logs on fine. I have tried changing their account to administrator but its still the same.

Reply: (edit)Maybe look at this one. Report back if go or no go, so people can continue to help: "Error 691" or "Error 734" When You Attempt to Establish a Dial-Up Connection in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310431

Reply: (edit)I have checked everything on the link you sent and everything is set as it should be. I can connect on the administrator account so the user name and password must be correct. Its only when you go to the user accounts you cannot connect, I have tried changing them to administrator but the same thing happens.

Reply: (edit)Go to this web page: Search the Knowledge Base Under "Advanced Search": Next to the word FOR, type: Error 691 Then click the arrow button. You can now look through some articles for yourself, to see if there is any help there. There is one there of interest if your computer is an ugrade XP from another Windows OS.

Reply: (edit)I have checked through those. As far I as know I am not running an upgrade as its a new computer bought with xp on. I can't understand why it lets me log on with the same username and password but not the user accounts.

Reply: (edit)Sharon, What username and password are the kids using? If you're able to authenticate with your account, you might want to enable that DUN connection for all users. Then, the same username will show up in the Login window for connection to your ISP, and if you want to save the password, that will be filled in, but encrypted so it can't be read.

Reply: (edit)Jennifer, When the kids try to connect from their user account the connect box comes up and my user name is in there already and the password is also in there. It tries to connect just like my account does but then comes up username and password are invalid on the domain. I just do not understand why it will not connect it does on my account.

Reply: (edit)It seems there was a problem with the disk my isp provider sent me. They talked me through a manual connection rather than their disk and this works fine. It was stopping anybody from sharing the connection and only storing the user name and password for me only. This was really annoying as I queried this with them days ago and they passed me off to microsoft, anyway I rang back today got somebody different and they sorted it. The disk was defaulting all the time to one user only. Would be interesting to know whether its just my disk with this fault. Thanks everybody for your help
