when you say your line is 56kbps, do you mean you are on dialup using a 56k modem?

if so, 56kbps is kilobits per second, not kilobytes per second. there are 8 bits to 1 byte, so 56kbps is 56/8=7. therefore the max speed download you will get is 7k/sec. when i was on dialup, i only used to get about 4.8k/sec, so that is average.
