This may be a stupid question, but can I use USB 2.0 ports with a USB 1.1 motherboard?
The reason I'm asking is because I just got a new system case and it has two USB 2.0 ports mounted on the front of it. However, my motherboard has USB 1.1 support. I was wondering if I could still use the USB 2.0 ports, but operating at USB 1.1 speeds and everything. Is that possible?

USB 2 is backward compatible ie USB 1 devices will work as normal in a USB 2 port, the latter standard allows greater speed thruput in compatible devices.

So even though the ports are 2.0 and the motherboard is 1.1 I can still use the ports as if they were 1.1?

Im using a motherboard with usb 2.0 and it works fine with Windows XP....as far as I know XP is the only version of Windows that supports USB 2.0. USB 2.0 is very fast compared to 1.1. Im using the k7s5a pro board.
