I have an older box at my place of work w/a pentium 3 600 and 384 mb of ram just upgraded from win 95 to winxp pro and the USBflash card I just bought won't show up in my computer-however,it will show up in the task bar -as I remove it .I have run a usb utility and it detects the hardware-I just can't access it-I have a 440bx motherboard with USB enabled in the BIOS-I also have noticed that since the upgrade,my palm pilot
will not hotsync through the serial port-My thoughts are : 1)USB configuration problem with WinXP
2)The system administrator has locked me out of making any hardware changes..Is there a registry entry I can check to see if this is the case?
Thanks-

Remember the bumper sticker<>my other car is...
My other system is a p3 with 384 ram too so I guess I'll field that question.
The bare minimum for xp is right where that system is. Don't bother to add ram,it doesn't help. The p3 is not designed to be a workhorse, it's a puppy. When you add things to it, it b o g s down badly. But don't chunk it. It makes a great little starter system for some deserving kid that can't afford a computer. Give it away, write it off, build or buy another one.
As for the palm problem. I have a m500 that has usb cradle and it works just fine. Your not the first to bring up that the serial cradle is not connecting. You can get either get a usb cradle or get the serial to usb adapter.
This is too wierd, If memory serves I had the same board before I upgraded it. I think, I'm not sure though that is a TYAN motherboard and the model name is either TIGER or TIGER 2.
I need to send in a script to Rod Serling...
