After replacing the Motherboard with the same one received under Warranty, the little USB Icon appeared in the Task Bar to remove your Hardware safely. The Hardware showing is my Hard Drve C:\. How did this come about? Don't have enough guts to click on "Remove", but would like to get rid of the reminder.
Thanks for any Information.

It's just telling it's safe to remove the device.

This behavior is by design. This feature is builtin to accomodate the safe removal of eSATA drives. If you wish to rid yourself of the listing in the "safely remove icon" then try the following instructions culled from another site.

If you click on "system" in control panel and click on "device manager", click on "hardware" tab, you should see your SATA drive under "disk drives". Click on the sata drive name. Click on the "Policies" tab and you will see two radio buttons that could be ticked. If the top one is ticked, you won't have the USB icon in the tray because it is set for quick removal. If you have the bottom one ticked, it is set for performance and you will see the USB icon. You can choose whatever you want, just check the disk performance if you choose the top, quick removal button. Hope this helps.

Be aware of the difference between Optimize for quick removal and Optimize for performance:

- Click Optimize for quick removal to disable write caching on the storage device and in Windows. This allows you to remove the device without using the Safely Remove Hardware application, but it can have an impact on the performance of the device.

- Click Optimize for performance to enable write caching in Windows, which can improve the performance of the storage device. However, you must use the Safely Remove Hardware application to disconnect the device from the computer.

In the cas of an Internal drive that shows in the safely remove icon, there is no reason to remove the drive using that icaon or to worry about it. Leave it be.
