I'm running win XP 2505 on a FIC VA503+, with amd k6-2-400, 128mb ram,
diamond viper II, sb PCI, diamond homefree phoneline network adapter (PCI),
smc ethernet (ISA), when I first installed XP I got an error message saying
setup is unable to continue and under technical info I saw something about
USB so I disabled the USB ports in my BIOS and the installation worked fine,
now everything is up and running but as soon as I enable USB ports my system
won't finish booting, I'll get to the startup screen saying "windows is
starting" and I get to the desktop and the system just stops and reboots by
itself after about a minute or so. Any suggestions on how to fix this would
be helpful. Thanks.

Try installing 2526. One of the earlier builds of XP had problems with USB ports not working.

The problem is really that the XP beta and the XP full version will NOT have support for USB on some motherboards and PARTIAL on other. Intel will be writing a driver for USB support and will release it about the time that XP is released.
